Hey Travelers,
This past weekend we ventured down to Fort Myers and Naples, Florida for 34 hours. Yes you read that correctly… only a weekend in “The Sunshine State”. Our mom taught us growing up a weekend trip is better than no trip at all. This is a great way to escape the cold briefly and let me tell you this weekend in Florida was the perfect break from the snow.

Once again we let the deals decide the location, for this particular trip we only paid $73 round trip through Frontier Airlines. You can also get in on these deals by signing up for their email list, it’s free!
If you stay closer to the airport or more inland from the beach this will save you some money. Most rental car agencies are not too expensive to rent for the day, and this will give you more freedom to explore. Thankfully we had enough hotel points to stay the night for free.
So you are probably thinking that is not enough time, but we are here to prove you wrong. We had a pretty eventful/ relaxing trip. Below are some highlights from the trip, that we recommend you check out.
First up on the list would be eating at Uhmazebowls!

Karley ordered the “electric dragon” Pitaya bowl and Kelsey got the “the basic” Acia bowl… they were definitely Uhmazing if you ask us. But seriously this was the best smoothie bowl I have ever had.

Specializing in acai bowls, these are not only delicious but almost too pretty to eat. You would think something this detailed would take awhile to make but surprisingly only took a few minutes! The service was very quick and the employees were eager to explain anything on the menu. Uhmazebowls is a great healthy option when eating out, and that can be hard to find when traveling. All bowls have natural ingredients with no added sugar, this will give you plenty of energy for the day. Uhmazebowls has been added as of our favorite places and we would fly back down just to eat there again. While we were here we met the owners of the store and their two daughters, they were just as sweet as the bowls served.

Please do yourself a favor and stop here at some point in your trip. You will thank me later.

Now in the famous words of Nicki Minaj “Uh, let’s go to the beach, beach
Let’s go get away”
We went to Ft Myers beach and parked at Lani Kai Beach Resort. The parking was $10 for the day. The resort had easy access to be beach.
They had chairs and umbrellas you could rent for the day. It was $32 for 2 chairs, 1 umbrella and 1 table. We recommend stopping by Walmart to pickup some beach chairs and an umbrella, this will save money if your going to be there a few days.
Since we were only there for 34 hours we rented 2 chairs with no umbrella (gotta catch some rays) for $9 each. The resort has servers that will bring you all the drinks right to your chair! We tried the margaritas and daiquiris and they were delicious. The prices were not bad either $6.50 a drink!
For lunch we ate at one of the beach restaurants at the resort. It was called Chicago Dog House.

It was a cheap option with a great view of the water. We ordered a few corn dog meals and 1 chicken finger. The meals include fries and a drink, you can’t beat the price! The corn dog meals were only $4.99!

We returned later to watch the sunset by the pier. Make sure to arrive with plenty of time to find parking. There is parking near the pier that is pay by the hour.

After sunset we headed over to the Liki Tiki! This place was hopin, filled with locals that were eating there (so you know it has to be good, right?). They had live music all night with fun singalong songs. We recommend ordering the fish dinner. The portions are HUGE! It’s enough for 2 people to split and the price is very reasonable only $10.99 and includes fries.

On Sunday we had a late lunch at Mel’s Diner in Naples. This restaurant was fantastic and the service was wonderful. They have $3 Martinis, Bloody Mary’s and Margaritas! Let’s just say we had a table full of Margaritas but hey it’s vacation! We ordered a little bit of everything from a full turkey dinner to fish sandwiches, from what we had you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. It’s like going to Cheesecake Factory you have an endless options.

We made a stop at the Miromar Outlets to do some last minute shopping before our flight back home. They had some good sales on winter clothes, Kelsey bought a few jackets and vests. Which she did not have room for in her personal carry on. We had to improvise, and wear a few layers back to cold Ohio just to get the new items on the plane.
When we arrived on Saturday morning the line for security was over 2 hours long…so with that in mind we showed up on Sunday night 2 hours before schedule. The line was non existent. You never know! But it is better to be early that late to your flight. Unless you want to stay in Florida longer!

Remember, only need 24 hours for a vacation.
Until the next adventure,
-Kelsey and Karley
